BLACKSTONE — Chief Gregory Gilmore is pleased to announce that the Blackstone Police Department will once again be taking part in the Home Base No Shave fundraiser this month.
The campaign allows officers to donate $50 to forego departmental facial hair restrictions during the month of November as a way to support Home Base’s mission to help veterans and their families heal from ailments such as post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries.
Additionally, Chief Gilmore has authorized the extension of November’s No Shave charitable effort through December. Officers who donate an additional $50 as part of a “Double Down December” promotion will be allowed to keep their facial hair for an additional month.
“Our department is proud to participate in the Home Base No Shave fundraiser once again this year, which honors our veterans’ service and sacrifices, and supports them and their families,” Chief Gilmore said. “I also commend our officers for wanting to continue the no-shave campaign through December to raise additional funds for this purposeful cause.”

As part of Home Base No Shave, which was formerly known as No Shave November, more than 130 New England Departments raised over $320,000 last year. Since its inception in 2015, the campaign has raised over $780,000 to fund critical mental health and brain injury care for the nation’s wounded and injured service members and their families.
